Ted’s Bar Presents: UConn v. Michigan Picks (UPDATE!)

the-big-house

I’ve spent more time than I care to remember at Ted’s Bar in Storrs well, not “more” than I care to but just enough that it borders on the absurd.  Anyway, its the best bar at UConn.  There, I said it.  Which is probably why I’m plugging them, in hopes for free drinks and a pass on public drunkeness. Anyway, with the UConn v. Michigan game only a few days away it’s time to decide if you’re making the drive to the Big House or resting your elbows on some mahogany, doing 12oz curls and getting a little roughed up.  I’ll be doing the former, the latter (if you’re anywhere in New England) would best be performed on the campus at Storrs at (you guessed it) Ted’s.

The game will have a few key match ups on the field, including the performance of Zach Hurd, DJ Shoemate, and Zach Frazer on offense.  Can UConn move the ball with steady pace in a big time environment?  Conversely, is Rich “Dick” Rodriguez going to have his offense firing on all cylinders  (something he’s failed to do in his tenure, hell even Carr was floundering, GO APP STATE!).  With UConn lacking experience in the secondary, will defense be an issue (typically a strong suit for the Huskies).  The if pre-season poses all the questions, then the first game answers many of them.  For me, I’m interested to see the match up on opposing sidelines.  Edsall, a head coach who has taken a program to the next level (even coaching the safeties this year) and Dick Rod who had the Big East by the balls and hasn’t done much since jumping ship.  A test for Edsall to prove the Huskies worth, a would-be nail in coffin for Michigan and their head coach if the lose.

The call: 17-13, UConn wins.
The line on the game is Michigan by three.  Take the money and run, kids.

  1. Excellent assessment. Maybe mention how stingy UM was in doling out freeby tickets for the UConn program (even Andy Baylock couldn’t hook it up).

Brush, floss, win. Uconn by 14.
