FWG Interview: Anthony Sherman

ant

Recently I was able to sit down with UCONN FB Anthony Sherman, who many think could be one of the first FBs taken in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Corey: I have heard you described by some scouts as a tank.  What would you say is your greatest strength as a football player?

Anthony: My passion for game.

C: As a fullback, would you rather blow someone up with a huge block, or catch a touchdown pass?

A: Blow someone up. Definitely.

C: Who was the best defensive player you faced during your college career?

A: UCONN LB Scott Lutrus

C: We hear lots of stories about dirty play at the bottom of piles. Who was the dirtiest player you played against?

A: University of South Florida LB Ben Moffit.

C: If you could lead the way for any NFL running back who would it be? Why?

A: Donald Brown, because we already have a history together and know each other’s games.

C: A lot has been made about Stephen Paea’s feat of strength in the bench press, as well as the 40 yd dash times of defensive lineman.  Do you think that stats, like 40 times and bench press reps are a good indicator of potential talent?

A: No absolutely not.

C: If you are stuck on a deserted island and could have 1 of each of the following:

1 women: My girlfriend

1 food: A good steak

1 drink: Water

1 movie: Wedding crashers

C: Last week NFL players announced a plan to have potential prospects boycott the draft.  If you were invited to the NFL draft would you go?

A: Probably not. And not just because of the lockout and potential boycott. I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a room all day like Brady Quinn was. The idea of being stuck there for an unknown amount of time, waiting for you name to be called with all those cameras on you doesn’t appeal to me at all.

C: If the lockout continues forever, what would be your dream job?

A: I would want to go into some form of law enforcement.

Sherman comes across as a humble, hard working guy who loves the game of football.  One also gets a sense of the great family atmosphere that exists between members, past and present, of UCONN foottball.  The FWG Network would like to wish Anthony Sherman good luck in the NFL, especially since we have no interest in him pulling us over, and asking us what that smell is any time soon.
