I’ll make this quick, the last 5 years I didn’t have to buy a pair of shoes. Not one. In case you’ve never heard of the concept to “team issue” basically it is a University’s way of saying “Thanks for the 60 hours a week, and we’re sorry about the early onset of arthritis….here’s some free clothes/shoes/backpacks/hats” During that time the Navy and White of UConn seemingly vomited all over my closet. Since my time in Austria and now here in New England my wardrobe has started to recover, with one exception: Shoes. The endless supply of Nike’s was not something I took for granted, and I stocked up and saved. Well that supply finally ran out.
So I was shocked to find out that for a solid pair of workout shoes I’d be paying between 40 and 70 bucks. When I know that small Malaysian children are producing these for like $1.35. So I had to go shoe-shopping.
I was, for all intents and purposes a Nike-man through and through. Until my NFL caliber friends gave me a few Reebok samples. Well, a heavy set, wide footed gentleman such as myself is now a convert. With that in mind I headed over to Reebok.com and literally lost an entire day online shopping.
I decided on customizing a pair of Reebok Zigtech. Yeah call me an elitist, but if I’m dropping money on a shoe, I’m making sure I like ever aspect of it. Well, I got them in the mail and as much as a I hate catchy slogans, they really are “like an energy drink for your feet.” Not that I’m competing in anything anymore, but even my lame attempts at weight loss are going better. So, well done Reebok Zigtech, you are fat kid approved.
“for all intensive purposes” !?!?!?!?
Come on, Rob, the expression is “for all intents and purposes”. “Intensive purposes” makes no sense whatsoever, and calls your UConn education into serious question.
