Corey’s Super Bowl Preview: The Pasta Course

If you missed the Appetizer portion of the Super Bowl preview it can be found here: www.thefatwhiteguy.com/index.php/2011/02/coreys-super-bowl-preview-the-appetizer/

I now present The Pasta Course.

Coaches – Mike McCarthy, GB VS Mike Tomlin, Pitt

I am not going to let the Tomlin’s resemblance to actor Omar Epps influence my decision here. It is a freaky coincidence, nothing more.

What will influence my decision you ask?

Fear

I am terrified of Tomlin. I mean, look at him. If you ran into him in a dark alley and he looked at you like that, I guarantee you would crap your pants.

Mike McCarthy on the other hand, he looks like he already crapped his pants and just doesn’t know what to do about it.

Edge : Pitt

Better Home Field – Lambeau, GB VS Heinz Field, Pitt

The frozen tundra of Lambeau field is legendary. So legendary in fact, they have weddings there. You know a football stadium is special when women agree to be married there.

I don’t see anyone lining up to get married at Heinz field, which is named after the company that makes ketchup. On the bright side, at least it’s not Hunt field, named for the gross second rate ketchup one sometimes finds in a cheap cafeteria.

Lambeau has its own leap, where a player celebrates a touchdown by throwing himself into the stands behind the end zone.

Heinz field has, well I imagine they have lots of free ketchup. So they got that going for them, which is nice.

Edge: GB

Ownership – The Rooney Family VS The People of Green Bay

This is a tough one.

On one hand you have a family who helped institute a rule that helps minority coaching candidates.  Their patriarch Art Rooney, or The Chief as he was called, is remembered as one of the classiest men in the history of the sport.

On the other, you have a team owned by its fans. We all imagine we play a more important role in our team’s fate than just yelling at them on TV, but the fine folks of Green Bay are actually in charge.

Because The Chief won the team in 1932 by betting on the ponies, and because I am jealous that I don’t have some of Robert Craft’s shares in the Patriots…

Edge: Pitt

Back Up Quarterback – Matt Flynn, GB VS Charlie Batch, Pitt

Matt Flynn almost beat the Patriots in Foxboro, and Charlie Batch is really, really old.

So Edge: GB

But lets be honest, if either Matt Flynn or Charlie Batch is on the field doing anything more than holding extra point attempts, we all lose.

Check back later today for The Main Course.
